Miguel Gandert
Bio: Miguel Gandert has been photographing the social rituals, people, and landscapes of his native New Mexico for several decades. His photographs have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the world, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History, and the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Gandert is a professor in the Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of New Mexico. He is author/photographer of "Nuevo México Profundo: Rituals of an Indo-Hispano Homeland" (MNMP), and photographer of "Hotel Mariachi: Urban Space and Cultural Heritage in Los Angeles" and "Hermanitos Comanchitos: Indo-Hispano Rituals of Captivity and Redemption."
